A destination wedding is a no-brainer if you're trying to keep the wedding small without hurting any feelings. By virtue of a destination wedding necessitating travel, some of your not-so-close family and distant friends/acquaintances won't be inclined to drop the extra cash or take vacation time from work. But your close families, favorites, and besties will make the trip no matter what. And those are the people you want surrounding you on your wedding day anyways! If you think you'll harbor a tinge of guilt or self resentment, remember you can always host a reception back home for everybody who couldn't attend the destination wedding. Now, since we gave you that amazing idea replete with ingeniously sound logic, you can thank us by taking us with you to photograph!

Speaking of a destination wedding photographer, what do I need to know about hiring one, you ask? Oh, I'm so glad you asked! For a destination wedding photographer, you'll want somebody who's done at least a few destination weddings before. It's a different animal, and just like anything else, the more experience, the better. You'll also want to make sure your destination wedding photographer has low light training. You'll probably still have nighttime activities, be it a dinner or dancing reception, so don't choose a photographer based solely on their natural light bride-and-groom portraits. Also, you'll want to make sure you like your destination wedding photographer on a personal level. Destination weddings are innately intimate, so your photographer will be interacting closely with all your friends and family. Make sure you hire somebody who is personable and will be kind to all your guests. Lastly, make sure your destination wedding photographer is open to adventure! The best destination wedding photographer will help you make the most out of your destination, so bringing your photographer along on a beach day, boat day, city excursion, or another event applicable to your weekend will give you the best photos. But be prepared to compensate your photographer for these extra hours of coverage. It's still extra front end and back end work for us! Oh, and ALWAYS ask any potential destination wedding photographer to see an complete wedding gallery so you can get an accurate representation of the work.

A destination wedding is also a wonderful way for you two to cement into your lives a special spot in the world. The place you get married will always carry a deep significant to you, and having a truly special place you can revisit together over the years will be fun and heartwarming.

A destination wedding is also great for cultivating uniqueness. Traveling to a different city makes everybody exceptionally joyful for the event. It's basically a vacation! Everybody is relaxed and ready to make some fun memories. Furthermore, for older couples getting married, a destination wedding is an opportunity to diverge from the loads of weddings you all have attended in the past.

If a tropical vacation is your speed, then a tropical destination wedding will be too! But "tropical" and "destination" don't have to be synonymous. If you want to show everybody your favorite urban spot or European city, throw an urban  or a European destination wedding. It's your wedding, and there are NO RULES, WOOHOO!
