I talk with other photographers a lot, and one conversation I have often is zoom lenses vs. prime lenses (lenses with a set focal range). My favorite lens is the canon 24-70mm 2.8 L … I literally never take it off my camera. I love the versatility and variety of types of shots I can get quickly in a single shoot. However, my good friend, Andrew, always talks about how it pushes and challenges him to be creative within a set focal length, and another friend, Lauren, even posted on her blog about it here (both of them are sick photographers, so you should check them out). Challenged received guys. So, I went to Atlanta with my band, Sleeperstar, for a show this past weekend, and I only brought my 50mm 1.4. It was really fun, I would encourage you to take the 50mm challenge as well! Here are some images.

My best friend, Aaron, who you met in a earlier post, got to borrow a studio set up from a friend of his, so naturally we had to play with it! It’s always fun to go into a setting like that without clients and just get to be creative [a rarity at that]. So we traded off doing test shots of each other, and as a bonus, we were at his house which just so happens to have a brand new baby girl in it, so we had to throw her in the mix too!

[Thanks to Aaron for this next masterpiece:]

I met Taylor a few months back down in Waco when Sleeperstar was playing a show on Baylor campus. Taylor is a kick butt photographer and as he was taking some shots of us, and seeing his camera, I naturally starting talking cameras and photography with him. He called me a few weeks later and honored me by asking me to photograph him and his future bride, Christie’s, wedding! These two are super fun and we had a blast doing the engagement session, and the two handled the wind and cold like CHAMPS!! I can’t wait to tell their entire wedding story! Did I mention that Taylor is a totally kick butt photographer ….www.taylormccabephoto.com, go check his stuff out!! NOW!
Ok..I know that I keep saying I’m going to limit these posts to 10 images…but what fun is that really?! Narrowing down to 20 was the best I could do.

My girlfriend, Laurie, and I met up with Matt & Lauren Larsen and Andrew Shepherd the other night at the Libertine to celebrate Matt’s newly inked arm. They are all such wonderful people and I’m very blessed to know them all. Matt’s tattoo says “Life”, which has a slew of meanings but the most obvious is that it’s his daughters name, and she is so entirely fitting of the name. If you want to know more I highly reccommend reading the posts from this summer here, it might possibly change your life. It was also fun to just take some photos that didn’t have any client attached to them…I almost forgot what that was like. [and the pink thing on Matt's arm is not a arm band, it's plastic wrap around his tattoo, just fyi. And Laurie, I'm sorry I didn't get any photos of you...you were sitting in the dark, there was nothing I can do. You're pretty.] In conclusion: Fun times had by all.
