I talk with other photographers a lot, and one conversation I have often is zoom lenses vs. prime lenses (lenses with a set focal range). My favorite lens is the canon 24-70mm 2.8 L … I literally never take it off my camera. I love the versatility and variety of types of shots I can get quickly in a single shoot. However, my good friend, Andrew, always talks about how it pushes and challenges him to be creative within a set focal length, and another friend, Lauren, even posted on her blog about it here (both of them are sick photographers, so you should check them out). Challenged received guys. So, I went to Atlanta with my band, Sleeperstar, for a show this past weekend, and I only brought my 50mm 1.4. It was really fun, I would encourage you to take the 50mm challenge as well! Here are some images.

yes. way to go on the challenge. I almost never take the 50mm off my camera when shooting portraits. Especially of kids because I find that the sharpness is so intense in the right spot (eyes) and then everything else fades off or gets soft. These pics are great man. Wish we could have met while you were in GA, but we’ll have to meet up when I’m in Tejas again.
