Jake & Hayley NY

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Over the summer my band, Sleeperstar, was touring the east coast and that brought us through NY, which is by far one of the most magical places on earth. Jake, who plays keys in Sleeperstar, and one of my dear friends had recently gotten engaged and his fiance, Hayley, met us in NY to hang out with us and spend some time with Jake.  We thought…why not do an engagement session while we’re there!!  So, after sound check we took a little walk and did an impromptu engagement session for the two lovebirds.

Taylor + Christie = Wed

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Taylor and Christie got married this past June and the wedding was amazing!  Such wonderful people involved in the entire wedding, such a joy to be around.  The ceremony was at North Highlands Bible Church and reception was at The Hickory Street Annex in Dallas.  The details at the wedding were incredible. Taylor is a fellow photographer and it is always so fun to shoot other photographers because you know they rarely get to be on the other side of the camera. Go check out his work, he rocks the party! Here’s a bit of their wedding story:

NY Circa 2008

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I’ve been going through a lot of my personal work lately and really wanted to share some with you.  I was going to go into a big long shpeel about being an artist as a profession and needing to find a balance between doing the work that puts food in your belly and doing the work that inspires you. But…you’ve heard it all before.  I’ll just say this:  Food is good. Food sustains. But passion gives life.  Passion is something that enables us to leave some things behind while fighting for greater things, and to experience what we were meant to.  What a sad day it would be if we all forsook our passion just to put food on our tables. This trip to NY in late 2008 was one of those rare occasions where I just got to be a photographer for the sake of being a photographer and indulge in the passion I have for life and art.  And in NY, at that. I love NY. It is a magical and romantic place.  I cherish any moments I get to spend there.  These are just some images I was able to capture while there for those short moments:
