LOVE these two. And the only reason we got to photograph their wedding is because the badass who WOULD have photographed it is one of the groom’s best friends (Grant Daniels, anyone?). So we’ll take being the backup option if it means getting to photograph people like Elizabeth and Jake - these kind, warm souls who…
You know you have superb clients when they have welcome bags for the photographers…and mainly when they make sure you leave their wedding with pockets brimming with mini tequila bottles. That’s the two fantastic humans rocking out up there…
Lollipop microphone. When you have the perfect combination a fully stocked candy table, a fantastic live band, and a bride and groom KILLIN' it up on the stage, the elusive lollipop microphone might appear. Thankfully, on this glorious night, at this sublime reception, Lauren blessed us with some rad lip syncing and a magnificent…
THESE TWO are the reason Levi is here; we’re convinced of this. Amy and Jamie are the life-of-the-party types, always generously ensuring that there’s a drink in your hand, even if means throwing another round on their own tab. Shaun and I were the recipients of their enthusiasm on one particular Thursday evening after we…
This photo right here, this one went in the all-time favorites folder. You see, when Christie and Blake chose us to be their wedding photographers, we weren’t pregnant and had no plans to become so. Fast-forward a few months, and there Shaun and I sat at Henry’s Majestic waiting for these two to arrive, worried and so nervous to tell them that were were due two weeks before their wedding. We would have totally understood if they wanted to go with a different photographer, given the unpredictable nature of childbirth. But what Christie and Blake did just endeared them to us for all of eternity.
Of course, they immediately congratulated us with beaming smiles and celebratory congratulations. But before we could nervously word-vomit our rehearsed reassurances about several backup plans, other extremely talented photographers we would have on-call, and a process we would still oversee (yada yada yada), Christie said, “Shaun, if Shannon goes into labor on our wedding day, you are not shooting! You are NOT missing the birth!” I think I cried a little. We then had a lovely dinner and three-quarters of a round of drinks, and Shaun and I left with a deepened affection for the soon-to-be-Armstrongs.
And now we arrive at the photo. This is Christie and Blake’s wedding day. Levi and I dropped Shaun off and made a quick run up to surprise Christie with a brief hello! Stealth was the goal so as to avoid siphoning attention from the wedding celebration, but the second Christie saw me with two week-old Levi wrapped up on my chest, she flashed that smile of hers, shrieked, and planted this hug so sweet, firm, and sincere that I actually felt her body shaking with happiness. I think we both cried a little.
So here they are, friends - the absolute kindest, most wonderful, and most sincere souls you’ll meet. Their Union Station wedding was a lovely as beautiful and they come, executed to PERFECTION by another all-time fave, Meredith Commender. Enjoy!
If you can't tell from their IDP (Individual Dance Party...don't think you'll get away with avoiding one of these if we shoot your wedding), these two were FUN. We have a good amount of respect for anybody who knows as many hip-hop lyrics is Nhu does, but we have infinite amounts of respect for the bride who deejays a set at her own wedding and forgoes the floral robe for a lounge dress that says "BACK THAT A$$ UP". A traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning, a Catholic ceremony in the afternoon, and a Marie Gabrielle reception in the evening means we got to spend A LOT of time with these two, and we loved every minute with these kind and quirky lovebirds. Enjoy some of our favorite images from their wedding day (fair warning: there are a ton, so set aside a few minutes to soak it all in!
Aaaaaaaand we're back! If you care to do the math, our blog hiatus started on September 5, 2017, which is also the day that our labor started! Two days later (yep, TWO DAYS LATER), on September 7th, Levi George Menary came into the world (side note: if anybody wants to talk home birth, it's my new obsession)! These last six months have been all-Levi-all-day, and it's been magical. But now we're going to have college to pay for, so I figure it's time to get the blog rolling again. Plus, we missed YOU, friends!
We couldn't be happier that our first blog post back is Tenley and Ryan's Dallas wedding, as these two were the epitome of delight! If we've had gushier emails with any of our couples or their parents, detailing how much everybody loves everybody else and how happy everybody was to have been at the wedding, I can't remember it.
I'll prepare you for two things about these images: one, Tenley and Ryan both have the biggest and warmest smiles, so much so that you'll probably find yourself smiling the whole way through; and two, Tenley and her bridesmaids are trained dancers, so you'll encounter abounding amounts of mesmerizing calves and impressive posture.
And take a few seconds to check out that beautiful floral design by GRŌ Designs, who made Brook Hollow Golf Club look like one just stepped into a French parlor!

Well we were superlatively thrilled when Vic asked us to shoot Turner's and her wedding. At the time, Vic was a coordinator for the incomparable Sweet Pea Events here in Dallas, so even to be on her short list of photographers was an honor! And as we got to know these two a bit more, we basically fell in couple-love with them and want to be their best friends. They are truly wonderful people from their cores - thoughtful and fun, humble and tremendously kind. But I think my favorite thing about them is how much they laugh together, as in open-mouth, squinty-eyes laugh. It's pretty stinkin' adorable.
As one might expect from a seasoned coordinator turned bride, the wedding was BEAUTIFUL, thanks to Branching Out Events and their custom garden trellises. Yeah, custom...garden..trellises. To our delight, you can find said trellises and more beauty in MOD Wedding's online feature of Vic and Turner's sweet, sweet day!
We had the immense pleasure of shooting this bride's brother's wedding a few years ago. And when you basically fall in love with the whole family and see on social media that another sibling is engaged, you watch that inbox like a HAWK to see if they love you back the same amount. Well we were beyond delighted to see Emma's message a few weeks later, relieved to have been available for her and Jonathan's date, and ecstatic as this drizzly wedding day finally approached. Emma is as kind as they come, admirable strong-willed, and just the right amount of outgoing. Jonathan is her perfect companion - blusteringly intelligent and has strikingly friendly eyes, and he's reserved in such a way that whenever he occasionally does have something to contribute to a conversation, everybody shuts up and listens. Enjoy these sweet moments and this BEAUTIFUL wedding by I Do Floral and Decor out at Avalon Legacy Ranch!

The Harmses are our second family. When Shaun and I got married, Barrett's parents offered us their condo in Tiburon, an amazing little coastal city with a killer view of San Francisco Bay. That would have been enough, but Jeane, in her classic thoughtful fashion, stocked the fridge with all sorts of romantic snacks, left a full plate of delicious cookies, and wrote us the sweetest letter. Those are the kinds of people the Harmses are: thoughtful and kind with ever-welcoming dispositions. We had the joy of shooting the NYC elopement of Laura and Ryan (the older of the two Harms boys), so once Barrett proposed to Kelyn, we just hoped, hoped, hoped they would inquire. And all of our dreams came true a few months later at their impeccable wine country destination wedding, hosted by a small, family-owned winery and designed by the incomparable Krisi and Nathan of GRŌ Designs (of whom we're a tad bit jealous because they actually ARE family).
Kelyn and Barrett were a dream come true, but we knew that would be the case. They've been together for quite a while, so it was pure joy to witness them succumb to the inevitable. The wedding was beautiful. These two are beautiful. It was a good day in California wine country. Enjoy!
