"To love is nothing. To be loved is something. But to love and be loved, that’s everything."
So you're engaged or will be soon, and to that we say "Right on!" Marriage is truly the most glorious adventure and unconditional love the most liberating gift.
We're grateful you're considering us to photograph your wedding. Below you'll find a bit about us, and we'd be most delighted to hear about you.
We are wedding photographers for couples who value photography. Of all possible paths lives can take, it should be essentially impossible for two perfectly matched people even to find each other, let alone grow to love each other to the same depth at the same time. What is worth documenting if not that?
Consider us your wedding day curators, creatively cementing moments into memories. We know that you want breathtaking wedding photos and that you'll want to remember your wedding day the way it was. Thus, we intentionally navigate the delicate line between documentation and art. The result is your curated collection of candid moments and expertly crafted portraits, creative yet accessible, thoughtfully constructed and uniquely yours. Yes, we'll get some of those look-at-the-camera-and-smile-ers for Mom and for solidarity. But we're after the head-back-mouth-open laughs and the furtive lovers' glances - the interactions that'll still make your heart skip a beat after a decade of marriage.
We love four types of images: intimate couples' portraits, candid interactions teeming with joy, wide images featuring thoughtful complexity, and lively captures of dance floor shenanigans. Should an impromptu adventure amidst a sweeping landscape be involved, we're there. In any scenario, we embrace the natural and relaxed. In lieu of meticulous posing, we'll give you some direction, as much or as little as you need, and then capture the connection as it ignites. If you've never had cameras on you all day, we have our methods of getting you comfortable (a shameless application of wine and/or whiskey). Also, we love to explore light, reflections, and textures, and we utilize off-camera flashes and other techniques to deliver a diversity of photos. And if you want to do something unique, themed, or edgy, look no further.
Shaun has a photography degree, can effectively shoot in any indoor and outdoor lighting situation, and has personally photographed over 250 weddings. Basically, we've got you covered. Yeah, that's a photography pun.
We are Texans at root and nomads at heart. So we are a Dallas wedding photographer, destination wedding photographer, and elopement photographer, shooting both home in Dallas and wherever our couples take us. No wedding is too far, no adventure too small.
We are a high-quality wedding photographer with nine years of experience, and we start at $6000 for 8 hours of coverage and a selection of edited images in an online gallery.
• Collections start at $8500.
• Destination coverage and elopement coverage are customized per location.
• Full, individual portrait sessions are $900.
We LOVE our couples. Love them. So in order to provide the highest quality wedding photography possible, we service only 25 weddings per year. You can visit our contact page to check availability for your wedding date.
Alright, now that the business stuff is out of the way, let's get personal HERE.
We do! We are a husband-and-wife wedding photography team. Shaun's the lead photographer, and I'm the assistant photographer. Basically, Shaun's there for all the important moments, and I'm adding coverage throughout the day. We offer the option to hire a third shooter for larger weddings.
We're Canon-ers. We shoot with 5d Mark III bodies and L Series lenses. We diligently have our gear cleaned and serviced every year to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
It doesn't work for every couple, but we're grateful that it works for us! With Shaun, no matter how much time I spend with him, I always want more. It's quite strange, actually.
Geez, tons. Over 250. Shaun's been shooting weddings full-time since 2008, so he's got quite a bit of experience.
Shaun majored in photography and therefore, has extensive light training. An immense technical know-how is required to shoot a dark room with uplighting, pin-spotted details, and moving party lights, all whilst maintaining the look of the room and, most importantly, featuring a beautifully lit subject. Sound tricky? It totally is. And Shaun can totally nail it.
Our goals with our attire are to blend in, to look professional, to dress appropriately to the event, and to maximize comfort and mobility. This usually means dark colors and greys, slacks, a blouse or occasional jumper (super stylish, mind you) for me, a collared button-up for Shaun, and sensible shoes. If it's appropriate, I break out the cobalt blue pants!
Absolutely! We love a good underwater portrait session. It keeps our creative juices pumping, and you get some truly magical images.
Yeah, buddy! Shaun has an underwater housing apparatus for the camera, so he was in the water with Wesley and Keller. It was cold and magnificent.
We are Dallas wedding photographers and destination wedding photographers, which means we shoot roughly two-thirds of our weddings here in Dallas and the remaining third...well, you name it. You can have a look at our GALLERIES page to see a few of our destination wedding locations. We love Dallas, our nieces and nephews, and our dog, so being home makes us happy. But traveling feeds our souls, so we truly value our destination weddings.
We have had the immense pleasure of shooting Pakistani, Jewish, Persian, Catholic, Christian, and Arab weddings. We love the wedding celebration in every color and language!
Well, it's exactly what it seems! We gotta snap a quick selfie with our couples at the end, right before the exit. Warning: we'll probably gush about how much we love you. We usually can't help it.
Yes, yes, yes! We are elopement photographers, and we have to say that it's one of our favorite adventures to photograph! We jive with the elopers, as we actually almost eloped ourselves. You want to get married without the stress of a wedding, and you want to do it somewhere meaningful and magical. Well you'll still need a photographer, as the photographs are how your friends and family will experience your wedding day. Yes, we would be thrilled to photograph your elopement. You can visit Ryan and Laura's gallery and Stephanie and Michael's gallery to see a selection of images from our favorite elopements.
We shoot roughly 3,000 images during an eight-hour wedding day. From there, we carefully choose the right images to deliver, and we give each of those images special attention and care. The final image count typically hovers around 600. Additional hours and/or event coverage obviously yield proportionately more images.
We deliver your wedding images with a copyright release, giving you permission to print and share the photos to your heart's content. However, just because you can take your USB to Target and print off a bunch of photos doesn't mean you should. Consumer grade printing processes aren't calibrated for professional color matching and image quality (you know, the stuff we spend hours on shooting and editing for you), so the bottom line is that the photos just won't look too great. You'll be paying a good amount of money for a high quality wedding photographer, so it only makes sense to maximize that potential with professional printing! If you don't have the budget for tons of professional prints, we recommend, at the very least, using our print shop for your enlargements and framers.
Short answer: no. Long answer: We shoot with a specific strategy to get exactly what we need, and we deliver an intentionally crafted set of finished photographs. Undelivered images remain undelivered for a reason. Just trust us.
Of course! Our business is our livelihood, and your wedding day is one of the most important of your life. We carry insurance so that you, your family, your friends, and our business are protected in any situation.
As long as you're alright with it, then most likely, yes! There are lots of factors that affect blog and magazine features, but the majority of the weddings we shoot will be featured somewhere. We've been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, BRIDES Magazine, D Weddings Magazine, Rangefinder, Style Me Pretty, Buzzfeed, Wedding Chicks, Snippet & Ink, Modern Luxury Brides, and tons more. We are a frequently published wedding photographer, and to raise further the likelihood of finding your wedding featured, we recommend both filling your wedding day with personal touches, and hiring a great event designer. We have recommendations!
On the wedding day, we have three backup camera bodies and several backup lenses. For file storage, we have three backups of all images at all times, one of them off-site in case of disaster. We know it's overkill, but they're the memories from your wedding day!
